Maths Revision For The Movie-Generation

Parents struggle today to help their children with their GCSE mathematics. A lot of the syllabus and methods have changed since their day, and it is difficult when one is not familiar with Loci or frequency density diagrams.   A new start up company set up by an experienced London based tutor has produced a DVD to guide students at their own pace through the detail of answering a complete mathematics paper.  Knowing how many students get "switched off" by mathematics, the filming of the tutor answering the questions is interspersed with scenes at the beach, in cafes and on the tennis court to lighten the mood and to take away the tedium of ploughing through text-books as last minute preparation.

An examination paper format allows the majority of the syllabus to be covered without the daunting task of tackling an entire textbook.   An added benefit is that the student gets practice at doing a paper in timed conditions in one sitting, which is invaluable training for calming the nerves in the real examination.  The DVDs use of visual and audio input of mathematical ideas reinforces the learning process to the movie-generation.

The tutor, Guy Howell, has had 20 years of experience teaching mathematics to all types of candidates and knows the topics and techniques that students need most help with.  He has been flown to the other side of the planet to help princes, taught at both state schools and private schools and is adept at helping students break down difficult problems into simple steps.  An ex student of his who went on to become a chartered engineer encouraged him to film his teaching methods and together they have formed Mr Guy's Publications Limited on a limited budget but hope to go far.

Revision need not be stressful.
